"Coaching is unlocking a person's potential to maximize their growth"

- John Whitmore

What is coaching?

Coaching has become an increasingly popular means of personal and professional development focused for individuals and groups over the last 20 years. It's place in today's society has come from our desire for ongoing support that doesn't fit the traditional mold of therapy, counselling, or consulting.

Coaches work in partnership with their clients to help unlock their potential and empower them to be their absolute best. Coaching helps create lasting and meaningful change within clients. This is done through coaches asking meaningful questions so that clients can develop their own answers and are empowered to create their own solutions that work best for them.

Why DO i need a coach?

IPEC lists the most common improvements coaches help make in people's lives:

  • Well Being - Coaches help people to make better decisions about their health and lifestyle, and seize what they really want out of life.

  • Goal Attainment - Coaches help people create goals that are focused and attainable, and keep clients accountable to the steps they need to succeed.

  • Productivity - By revealing the root of personal or business challenges, coaches unlock the potential for real growth.

  • Confidence - With tools acquired from coaches, individuals face the future empowered to do what's necessary to make their dreams come true.

The sky is the limit when it comes to coaching. The more committed and driven someone is towards improving (themselves, their work, their life, their relationships), the more opportunities we have for impact.

How is coaching different than counselling or Therapy?

Unlike therapy and counselling, coaching doesn't focus on the past - it focuses on getting a clear idea of what someone wants, why they want it, and how they will make it happen.

Unlike consultants, coaching doesn't diagnose problems within a person, group, or organization in order to provide solutions. Instead, coaching facilitates the process of identifying where someone wants to go and coming up with a solution on their own based on their values, situations, wants, needs, and desires. Furthermore, a coach is there to help people stay on track and keep them accountable for their progress and end goals. In other words, coaches aren't there to provide a "quick fix". They are there to support you in awareness of where you are today, where you want to go, and the process required to get you there.

Lastly, unlike sports coaches, life coaches work with you to set your own goals - not goals pre-determined by a team or by the requirements of a championship win. In coaching you have the complete and ultimate freedom to set goals that you want - your coach will help you unleash your creativity and come up with solutions to reduce obstacles in your way.
